Brent Council is developing a new waste collection strategy for Brent. The waste collection strategy, which is in draft stage, sets out how waste management will be delivered in Brent over the next five years with a goal of 60 per cent of waste being reused, recycled and composted by 2020 in mind.
Proposed changes to the current system include extending the Council’s recycling services to include all flats and to extend food waste collections from all street level properties. It also proposes expanding the range of materials collected to include mixed plastic and Tetra Pak cartons. The new service is expected to save around £1 million after the first two years.
